OLD BRICKS AND NEW FOUNDATIONS
What do we do when everything tumbles down, collapse, and falls around us? We stand in the dust for a moment; we let it over take us completely, we let it in. It will be dark in the beginning. It will get darker still as the moment slowly passes us by. But after that moment, a shimmer of light will appear, small at first, but there. Soon our vision will grow. Bricks will be scattered around us; some broken, some still usable. An old foundation comes next. Old memories of the old structure, but which can never be again. It’s the nature of the fall. We pick up that first brick that's still good at our feet, we hold it tight into our arms, and we place it back onto the old foundation. We take pieces of the old broken bricks still scattered around us and connect them back together to form different construction. Starting at the bottom we begin building again. We make trips to the hardware store and find new bricks which can be added back into the structure. Over time, something will appear, rebuilt, something bigger, something grander, something worth the time it took to rebuild. Here's the first brick, one which landed next to me, still strong and solid. Here's putting it onto the foundation, and here we begin our journey...
